10 LOCAL PLANNING AUTHORITIES TO TRIAL ‘WHITE PAPER’ DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION OF LOCAL PLANS

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) are seeking expressions of interest from local planning authorities in England to become ‘Pathfinders’ to test digital and data aspects of planning reforms set out in the Planning White Paper.

MHCLG state that the funded Pathfinder projects will inform policy and demonstrate how the reforms can benefit the local government sector.

Ten local authorities are to be chosen to look at the digital transformation of local plans.

MHCLG:

The transition to interactive map-based local plans underpinned by machine readable open data will help local people to engage with planning in their local area more easily, which will increase community involvement and help get homes built more quickly.

Applications to be submitted by 9th April 2021.
