WHAT ARE LETTERS TO CHIEF PLANNING OFFICERS AND PLANNING NEWSLETTERS?ย
Letters to Chief Planning Officers and Planning Newsletters are issued by the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) several times a year to provide updates and advice on the implementation of government planning policy and legislation in England.ย
The letters are not relevant to Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland as they have their own devolved planning systems.
The letters supplement other guidance and policy issued by government and can be a material consideration in the determination of planning applications or appeals and should be taken account of in the preparation of development plans.
Examples of letters and updates are available to download below:ย
